How do we convey feeling?
For this six weeks, we’ll be primarily using Photoshop. In the new version of Photoshop CS6, Video has been added to its capabilities (albeit it was already available in previous versions if you had the extended nversion). They also made a lot of upgrades to what you can do with video in PS. Photoshop, most of the time, however is not used for video, and what you can do with it has a very broad range of applications.
Past Due: Pitch for Current Project
Past Due: 2-Column Script & Storyboards
Photoshop must be utilized for a significant portion of your video. You can choose to use iMovie in conjunction with that if you so choose.
Once you finish filming, and put your finished product together, the last part is to create your evaluation document. It should contain all the stuff from the Criteria that isn’t obvious in the product itself. This would include parts of your design and plan you’ve already shown me, such as script, storyboard, and back-up ideas in case this product didn’t work.
You can see the Criterion by which IB looks at technology projects at any time here. So, to get maximum points on the fifth part (evaluate), IB states the following should be fulfilled.
“The success of the product and the student’s own performance are evaluated based on results of product testing in respect to design specification and views of intended users. Possible improvements to both product and student’s performance on each stage of the design cycle are described. An appropriate evaluation of the impact to the product on the environment, society, and life is produced.”
So, what exactly, does this mean? Let’s break it down.
“The success of the product and the student’s own performance are evaluated
based on results of product testing in respect to design specification and views of intended users.”
You are required to evaluate your own work, both of the product and of your efforts to complete the product. Evaluating yourself inaccurately is not to your benefit.
Your evaluation should be based on product testing and adherence to the design specification.
“Possible improvements to both product and student’s performance
on each stage of the design cycle are described.”
What could you have done better, both concerning your finished product and your work ethics.
This evaluation should be made for EACH part of the design cycle.
An appropriate evaluation of the impact to the product on the environment, society, and life is produced.”
Evaluate how your finished product could impact more than just yourself, such as the environment, society, or other aspects of life.
See Previous four posts for information regarding Criteria for your Create & Plan & Design & Investigation (research) stages.
At various times during the year, you will have other options. This six weeks, you have two other options.
The first option is working with Ms. McKend on an IB Video.
The second option is creating and submitting a video entry into the Reflections Contest.
