Criterion C

Your final project for this year isn’t so much about the product itself, but about your process through it. Sure, we want it to look nice, but understanding documentation is more important right now.

You will need four total pieces of documentation- each one related to one of the four parts of the design cycle.

Part one:
Criterion C:
Old Name: Create
New Name: Creating the Solution

– Construct a logical plan, which describe the efficient use of time and resources, sufficient for peers to be able to follow to create the solution.
– Demonstrate excellent technical skills when making the solution.
– Follow the plan to create the solution, which functions as intended.
– Fully justify changes made to the chosen design and plan when making the solution.
– present the solution as a whole.

Achievement Levels for Criterion C:

Previously, each criterion in Design/Tech went up to 6, but in the new MYP Criterions, all criterion in every subject is 8. It may be frustrating getting used to 8 in Design/Tech; however previously some subject had 6, some 8, some 10, and some it differed between their criterion. Overall, with every criterion in every subject being 8, it will end up being easier.

Achievement level 0:
The student:
– does not achieve at any level stated below.

Achievement level 1-2:
The student:
– demonstrate minimal technical skills when making the solution
– creates the solution which functions poorly and is presented in an incomplete form

Achievement level 3-4:
The student:
– constructs a plan that contains some production details resulting in
– peers having some difficulty following the plan
– demonstrates satisfactory technical skills then making the solution
– creates the solution, which partially functions and is adequately presented
– outlines changes made to the chosen design and plan when making the solution

Achievement level 5-6:
The student:
– constructs a logical plan, which considers time and resources, and is
– sufficient for peers to be able to create the solution
– demonstrates competent technical skills then making the solution
– creates the solution, which functions as intended and is presented appropriately
– describes changes made to the chosen design and plan when making the solution

Achievement level 7-8:
The student:
– constructs a detailed logical plan, which describes the efficient time and resources, and is
– sufficient for peers to be able to create the solution
– demonstrates excellent technical skills then making the solution
– follows the plan to create the solution, which functions as intended and is presented appropriately
– fully justifies changes made to the chosen design and plan when making the solution
